Kiwis give their boots a second life through Rebel Sport’s Boot Drive
Kiwis headed to Rebel Sport stores across the country to donate their boots to Kiwi communities in need.
In partnership with REPLAY, ReSport and Adidas, the drive saw over 1,200 Boots* be given a second life. The drive works to redistribute boots to communities that need them across the country, helping remove the barriers to sports participation while keeping boots out of landfill.
During the weekend's Boot Drive, boots with life left in them were donated through Rebel Sport stores. Donors were able to write well wishes to accompany their boots, passing along encouraging messages to the new owners. Once donated, the boots were collected by REPLAY and ReSport, to then be cleaned, and redistributed to kids and families who otherwise wouldn’t have proper footwear for the football and rugby season.
“We want to thank adidas and our charity partners, REPLAY and ReSport for helping us get these boots to the communities that need them. And thank you to our customers for helping more Kiwis get on the field and play the sport they love.” – Andrew Scott (COO)
REPLAY NZ is a charitable organisation dedicated to reconnecting new and used sports gear with communities in need—especially kids and families who may not have easy access to equipment. Since 2017, REPLAY has redistributed over 45,000 items, making sports and recreation more accessible to everyone.
ReSport Charitable Trust redistributes preloved sports gear to Northlanders in need, working to enable sports participation while caring for the environment.
*The initial estimate of 800 has been revised to 1,200, based on the actual boot count provided by our charity partners.
