Dame Rosanne Philippa O’Loghlen Meo

Dame Rosanne Meo has been a director and Chairman of Briscoe Group Limited since May 2001.

Rosanne is also Chairman of AMP Staff Superannuation and a Director of AMP (NZ) Administration Ltd, realestate.co.nz and Rosanne Meo Consulting Limited.  She is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

In the 2012 New Year Honours List Rosanne became a Dame for services to business.

Rodney Adrian Duke

Group Managing Director and Deputy Chairman

Rod Duke has spent all his working life in the retail sector. After leaving school in Adelaide, he commenced work with retailers in South Australia before moving to Waltons in Sydney in 1980. From 1981 to 1988 he held the positions of New South Wales Manager of Homecraft / Eric Anderson Stores, a senior merchandise executive for Grace Brothers then Managing Director of Norman Ross.

In September 1988, Rod was appointed Managing Director of Briscoes (New Zealand) Limited, at that time a subsidiary of Hagemeyer of the Netherlands, with a mandate of returning the company to profitability and preparing it for sale. In January 1990, Rod reached agreement for the RA Duke Trust to purchase 100% of the shares of Briscoes.

In 1996 Rod established, and in subsequent years expanded, the Rebel Sport chain of sporting goods stores in New Zealand as a business within the Briscoe Group.

Briscoe Group issued shares to the public in 2001 and listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. The RA Duke Trust continues as the Group’s majority shareholder.

Anthony (Tony) David Batterton

Tony joined the Briscoe Group Board in June 2016. He chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.

He has approaching 30 years private equity and investment banking experience in New Zealand with Evergreen Partners and Direct Capital, and in London with HSBC Investment Bank. Prior to this he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.

In addition to his role as Independent Director of Briscoe Group, Tony is currently an Independent Director of Scales Corporation, a Partner and Director of Evergreen Partners and a Non-Executive Director of NZ Fine Touring Group.

Andy Coupe

Director (Independent Non-Executive)

Andy Coupe joined the Briscoe Group Board in October 2016. He chairs the Human Resources Committee.

Andy is a professional director who has had more than 30 years’ experience in investment banking. He is Chairman of Television New Zealand Ltd and a director of NZX listed companies Kingfish Ltd, Barramundi Ltd, and Marlin Global Ltd. He is also Chair of the New Zealand Takeovers Panel.

Andy is a Chartered member of the Institute of Directors.

Mark Callaghan

Director (Independent Non-Executive)

Mark was appointed as Independent Director of Briscoe Group’s Board of Directors in January 2021.

He has over 30 years of manufacturing and marketing consumer goods experience, mainly in New Zealand and Australia, for multinationals; Colgate Palmolive and Kimberly Clark and most recently as Managing Director of Cadbury Australia & New Zealand and CEO of Frucor Suntory New Zealand.

Mark was awarded ‘’NZ Marketer of the Year’’ in 1993 and Australasian Aon Hewitt “’Best Employer’’ 2010-2013 for Frucor Suntory.

A past director of The Warehouse Group, Humour Foundation (Clown Doctors) and Hayes Asset Management, Mark is currently Chairman of Office Products Depot, CEO of Phytomed Medicinal Herbs Ltd and a member of the Institute of Directors.
